While staying at Erldunda Roadhouse there are many Interesting places to see throughout the local area including two world famous landmarks, Uluru and the Olgas.
Sitting at the junction of the Stuart and Lasseter Highways in the Northern Territory, Erldunda is uniquely situated in an area rich in history of exploration, pioneering pastoral endeavors, cosmic events and gold fever. These days, though we are now better known for being the base of many travellers Uluru experience.
A lesser known fact about Erldunda, is that we are located in the centre of Australia, also known as ‘The Centre Of The Centre’. You see there is some disagreement about where exactly the centre of Australia is, due to the different methods of measurement. Currently there is five points which are up for the title of the centre of Australia, so the Government has determined the title will go to the middle point of those 5 measurements… therefore making Erldunda ‘The Centre of the Centre’.
At Erldunda we strive to offer the quintessential outback experience. This extends from the stark red dirt that lines our caravan park to the home-cooked style of hot meals available in our Restaurant.
Due to our close proximately to Uluru (260kms), Erldunda has served as the base point for those wanting to experience Uluru without the usual costs associated with the trip.
Uluru is probably Australia’s best-known natural landmark. The ancient monolith is pretty impressive close up and boasts intriguing statistics.
